| Decent summary here: http://www.wikihow.com/Install-TrueType-Fonts-on-Ubuntu Basically put them anywhere that makes sense under /usr/share/fonts and run fc-cache to have the system integrate them. Or on downloading from here, for instance, your browser may offer to open the download in a font viewer, which will have an option to go ahead and install. |
